Dr. Larry Yager, a teacher of Artistically Gifted 7^th and 8^th grade students for both North and South Pontotoc Middle Schools, obtained National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Recertification in October of 2011. During the four years Dr. Yager has been with the Pontotoc County School District, his art students have won local, state, and national art contests. Several of his students have been recognized by the district school board for their outstanding artistic accomplishments.

 The Vision of National Board is that "Every student has great teachers, and every school has great leaders."

 Congratulations to Molly and Leila!

During the annual Pontotoc Women's Club Art Show Reception held on Sunday, March 25^th at the Pontotoc County Library, it was announced that Molly Palmertree won 3^rd place, and Leila Hodjic won Honorable Mention in the local art competition within their category of 7th, 8th, and 9^th grades. According to the director, Mrs. Deanna Prewett, there were approximately 240 entries ranging from K-12. Also, students from private schools, students home-schooled, and students receiving private art instruction privately or at art studios were able to enter the local art competition.

Molly and Leila are both second year eighth grade Artistically Gifted students of Dr. Larry Yager who teaches 7^th and 8^th grade Artistically Gifted students at NPMS. "I'm very proud of Molly and Leila, and I hope this recognition will inspire them to keep art in their everyday life. I also hope they will now be inspired to enter other art competitions. Both are very talented artists," said Dr. Yager.
